Speak with a short prayer, echoing the psalmist who often refers to God as his “rock.”
​
Listen to God’s voice in Psalms 62:2,6 (they’re the same).
He alone is my rock and my salvation,
my fortress where I will never be shaken.
​
Speak, imagining your feet planted on an immovable rock. Tell God how good that feels.
​
Listen to the Spirit of God in this moment as He is below you (your rock) and over you (your fortress). Don’t be shaken (or stirred!).
April 1
​
Speak with a short prayer of confession regarding recent times you have missed the mark and you knew it and that failing nags at you.
​
Listen to God’s voice in Psalms 65:3.
​
3 Though we are overwhelmed by our sins,
you forgive them all.
​
Speak, claiming God’s gracious forgiveness of your failings, whether intentional and unintentional.
​
Listen to the Spirit of God in this moment as He brands you with this truth, “you are forgiven.” Be seared with that brand.
April 2
​
Speak with a short prayer recognizing your small place in the big story of mercy.
​
Listen to God’s voice in Psalms 67:1-2, noting that God’s mercy is oriented both toward us (verse 1) and toward the whole world (verse2).
​
1 May God be merciful and bless us.
May his face smile with favor on us.
2 May your ways be known throughout the earth,
your saving power among people everywhere.
​
Speak, pleading with God for mercy for yourself and others with equal intensity.
​
Listen to the Spirit of God in this moment as He gives you hope for the whole earth, beginning with “us.”
April 3 (Sunday) - Worship with the people of God.
April 4
​
Speak with this short prayer, “Help!”
​
Listen to God’s voice in Psalms 69:29 which is the universal cry for help being voiced even at this moment by millions this day.
​
29 I am suffering and in pain.
Rescue me, O God, by your saving power.
​
Speak, praying for God to relieve and heal your own suffering and pain.
​
Listen to the Spirit of God in this moment. Can you trust that His saving power is rescuing you?
You can.
April 5
​
Speak with a short prayer recognizing that your body is failing, or has failed, or will eventually fail you as you age.
​
Listen to God’s voice in Psalms 71:9, 18 which is the prayer of the aged.
​
9 And now, in my old age, don’t set me aside.
Don’t abandon me when my strength is failing.
18 Now that I am old and gray,
do not abandon me, O God.
Let me proclaim your power to this new generation,
your mighty miracles to all who come after me.
​
Speak, praying for purpose as you age...being able to proclaim God’s power and miracles to those who follow.
​
Listen to the Spirit of God in this moment as He honors your past years with reasons to carry on into your future years.
April 6
​
Speak with a short prayer for singularity of vision, focusing your life on God.
​
Listen to God’s voice in Psalms 73:25-26.
​
25 Whom have I in heaven but you?
I desire you more than anything on earth.
26 My health may fail, and my spirit may grow weak,
but God remains the strength of my heart;
he is mine forever.
​
Speak, praying to win the constant struggle to maintain your desire for God as your central desire, your “more than anything on earth” desire.
​
Listen to the Spirit of God in this moment as He becomes the “strength of your heart.”
