Connections Ministry Assistant Job Description

General Description:

 

The Connections Assistant will contribute to the disciple making culture through the Arbor Church’s mission and Growth Path by providing support to the Connections Pastor in areas of hospitality, assimilation, and small group development. 

 

Hospitality Ministry Objectives:

  • Recruit and equip team leaders to effectively recruit and lead hospitality teams.

  • Cultivate a sense of community with leaders so that they are cared for and encouraged in their leadership and in turn develop community within their teams 

  • Organize volunteer scheduling through Planning Center Online

  • Monitor and manage an annual budget for Hospitality Ministries throughout the year

  • Plan and conduct volunteer training

 

Connections Ministry Objectives:

  • Support the Connections Pastor to continually improve the assimilation process from guest to full engagement

  • Assist recruiting and engaging teams for effective implementation of Rooted launch, celebration, facilitator training, and various experiences

  • Provide support and care to group leaders and assist in all forms of communication for group leaders and participants

 

General Duties:

  • Assist scheduling, inventory, and communicate

  • Create and maintain office hours in coordination with supervisor

  • Attend All-Staff Meetings scheduled bi-weekly 

  • Attend Rooted launches and celebrations

  • Utilize basic computer programs such as Planning Center Online, Canva, Word, Google Suite, and general email.

  • Give general administrative support as needed

  • Support the rest of the ministries as needed

 

General Expectations:

  • Be a team focused person making sure the ministry has strong communication 

  • Be supportive of church leadership 

  • Be supportive of and enthusiastic about Rooted

  • Attend Sunday worship and engage with groups for personal growth

  • Support the church’s mission in prayer, giving, participation

  • Preserve the unity of the Body

  • Model in attitude, speech, and action a consistent daily walk with Jesus Christ

  • Follow the Matthew 18 model on conflict resolution involving other church staff and members of the congregation

 

Supervisor: 

Connections Pastor

 

Supervisor Relationship:

  • Meet weekly for encouragement and support in ministry

  • Open door policy with any questions and concerns 

  • Annual evaluation of job performance with constructive assessment for professional development 

 

Location:  The Arbor Church (+online)

 

Reports to: Connections Pastor  

 

FLSA Status: Connections Assistant, Part-time (15 hrs./week) 

 

Rate: $14/hr.

Evening/Preschool Custodian Job Description

Position Description:

The Evening/Preschool Custodian is a part-time position annually reviewed and recommended for appointment. The Evening/Preschool Custodian position is tasked with cleaning, maintaining, and preparing all areas for the Cherubs preschool weekday programs. This position works under the supervision of the Facilities Manager striving to enable the ministry and mission of the church to be successfully achieved. 

 

General Responsibilities

  • Ensure that all publicly accessible areas of the Cherubs Pre-school are clean and ready for school staff members and student use daily. 

  • Be knowledgeable about proper chemical handling and cleaning techniques and have the ability to make basic repairs that do not require licensed contractors.

  • Attend weekly facilities Calendar meetings

 

Specific Responsibilities

  • Complete repairs and tasks such as changing light bulbs, vacuum, sweep, and scrub floors, sanitize surfaces, and restock items, such as toilet paper, paper towels, and other supplies for all pre-school areas. 

  • Maintain supply inventory, submit purchase requests, and assist with preparations for events and ongoing ministries. 

  • As needed, perform setup for Pre-school special events and ongoing functions including tables, chairs, white boards, etc. 

  • Oversee facilities accessibility, including unlocking and locking as needed in conjunction with the Facilities Manager

 

General Expectations

  • Conduct yourself according to the expectations and values of The Arbor Church. 

  • Maintain a strong personal relationship with Jesus Christ through regular devotion and participation in the ministries of a local church. 

 

Direct Supervisor:  Facilities Manager

 

Position Details

  • Hourly rate: $14 per hour

  • 16-21 Hours per week (Sunday-Thursday)

  • Evenings (after 3:30 daily = 3 or 4 hr. shifts)

Nursery Coordinator Job Description

Finally, our vision for the next 3-5 years focuses on developing obedient disciples, deploying the body for ministry, and devoting resources to bless children in our community.  

 

Summary:

First and foremost, the person in this role must love Jesus and His church, and also have a passion for loving and discipling pre-school age children and supporting the adults in their lives.  

 

The Nursery Coordinator strives to provide a safe and clean environment for children ages 0-4 years.  The coordinator recruits, leads  has oversight of a team of volunteers each Sunday.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Recruit, train, and schedule volunteers for nursery and toddler rooms for Sunday morning ministry and special events.

  • Practice and train volunteers on security measures for children in The Arbor Church’s care (safe check in/check out procedures, familiarity with emergency procedures.)

  • Communicate with Children’s Director regarding needs for supplies, snacks, etc.

  • Ensure proper sanitation of toys and cups used in rooms with a weekly cleaning.

  • Ensure bedding is changed and cleaned in cribs.

  • Make sure everything is running smoothly during all volunteer shifts.

 

Position Qualifications:

  • Biblically grounded follower of Jesus; lifestyle that reflects devotion to Christ.

  • Gifted as a leader and passion for children

  • Dedicated to and capable of equipping others for ministry

  • Contagious enthusiasm for learning and child development

  • Excellent public speaking and written communication skills

  • Computer skills in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

  • Be a supportive, joyful and engaged staff team member

  • As a spiritual leader in the church, take responsibility for your own personal spiritual growth through the practice of appropriate spiritual disciplines.
