To The Cross Devotional Journey
Introduction:
One Wednesday night during Dinner Church at the Jackson Interfaith Shelter, we were singing the song Build My Life by Pat Barrett and I was struck anew by the chorus, although I have sung it many times.
Holy, there is no one like You
There is none beside You
Open up my eyes in wonder
And show me who You are
And fill me with Your heart
And lead me in Your love to those around me
Those last three lines in particular kept running through my mind and heart.
Show me who You are.
Fill me with Your heart.
Lead me in Your love to those around me.
The simple foundation for truly building our lives as followers of Jesus.
Three simple prayers that can change everything.
In this season of Lent, we have been preparing our hearts by following Jesus on His journey to the cross. For the next three weeks, we continue this preparation by focusing on these three simple prayers. We also invite you to fast something however you are able, as we seek the Spirit together.
My prayer is that we will surrender to the Holy Spirit’s power as we embrace the call to “let go” in order to “take up” for the purpose of others.
